A Decade of Trust:
Celebrating 10 Years of Voda
Founded in 2016, Voda Plumbingware has spent the past decade building trusted relationships with plumbers, merchants and homeowners across New Zealand. As the company celebrates its tenth anniversary, founder Jon Doherty reflects on the journey so far and the exciting future ahead.
This year marks a significant milestone for Voda Plumbingware as the New Zealand owned brand celebrates its tenth anniversary.
Founded in 2016, Voda was established with a clear vision – to provide an exclusive tapware brand dedicated to supporting specialist plumbing merchants and plumbers, while delivering products developed for New Zealand’s unique water conditions.
Founder Jon Doherty recognised an opportunity in the market and set out to build a business centred on quality products, reliable service and strong industry relationships.
“There was a gap in the market for an exclusive tapware supplier supporting specialist plumbing merchants and plumbers. We also wanted to work closely with plumbers to ensure we had the right products for New Zealand conditions.”
Like many emerging brands, Voda’s early years were focused on establishing a reputation and earning the confidence of merchants, plumbers and customers in an already competitive marketplace.
“Building trust takes time.”
That commitment to relationships became one of the foundations of the company’s success. According to Jon, it took around three years for the brand to gain momentum, after which significant growth followed.
Over the past decade, New Zealand’s building and plumbing sectors have experienced considerable change, yet Voda has continued to strengthen its position within the market through a combination of product quality, service and operational excellence.
“Having quality products, at the right price and in stock are key drivers,” he says. “Having the right culture in our business also helps to make us successful.”
Today, Voda’s reputation is built not only on its product offering, but also on the people behind the brand. From sales and customer service through to factory operations and after-sales support, the company places a strong emphasis on delivering a positive experience at every stage of the customer journey. Combined with comprehensive warranty support and fast nationwide delivery, this customer-first approach has helped establish long-term relationships throughout the industry.
As the business has grown, so too has its product portfolio. Collections such as Storm have become synonymous with the Voda brand, combining contemporary design, performance and a range of modern finishes suited to today’s spaces.
Looking ahead, Voda’s anniversary year will also see the introduction of the Onyx collection. Developed to mark the company’s 10-year milestone, Onyx offers customers a choice of two interchangeable handle designs included with every purchase, allowing them to tailor the look to suit their personal style and giving them the flexibility to refresh the aesthetic in the future. This collection reflects Voda’s ongoing focus on combining design innovation with practical functionality for New Zealand homes.
When reflecting on the achievements of the past decade, Jon points not to sales figures or product launches, but to the people who have helped build the business.
“I think building a team of like-minded people that enjoy what we do at Voda, who are on the same path and are always striving to do better for our customers.”
For Jon, another highlight has been the encouragement and backing the brand received in its formative years.
“The early support for the brand from plumbers and resellers was really special.”
Despite reaching the 10-year milestone, Voda sees the anniversary not as a destination, but as the beginning of its next chapter.
“Voda is a young company, and we are only getting started. The next 10 years will be the most exciting.”
As it celebrates a decade in business, Voda remains focused on the values that helped establish the brand – quality products, exceptional service, trusted relationships and a team committed to supporting New Zealand’s plumbing industry for many years to come.
